Renee Attaway-Storer is a speech-language pathologist and social-cognitive therapist at her private practice, Social Concepts, in Houston, Texas. Her caseload includes preschool to adult.
Renee also serves as a Social Learning Consultant at The Parish School and is Director/Founder of Camp Social Superheroes and Camp Connect, both overnight camps for children and teens with social-cognitive differences. Renee has a passion for working with social learners of all levels (emerging social leaners to gifted) and finding creative ways to meet them at their current mindset and understanding to teach social competencies.
Renee began her journey as a speech-language pathologist and early childhood teacher at a private school for children with language and learning differences. She founded and directed Social Learning at The Parish School for ten years. This program supported the school in implementing Social Thinking® across the curriculum and offered individual and group social-cognitive therapy to children from preschool to high school in the Houston community. Renee has worked at The Parish School for 20 years in various positions.
Renee has also worked as Social Learning Coordinator at a transition to adulthood program while helping young adults understand and navigate the complex social world of adulthood to live independently and maintain employment. She has supervised at the University of Houston and developed their Cougar Communication Groups, a summer group therapy program, and supported school speech pathology graduate students.
Renee is an enthusiastic speaker who enjoys sharing her own clinical experiences with audiences across North America. She has traveled as a speaker all over North America and has over 10 years of speaking experiences in her community and to many different kinds of professionals. In addition, Renee speaks about social cognitive development, preschool play skills, group language therapy, and creating effective social groups.
Since attending her first conference in 2004, Renee has been a passionate supporter of Social Thinking. She has been a member of the Social Thinking® Training and Speakers’ Collaborative since 2012. Renee is an enthusiastic speaker who enjoys sharing her own clinical experiences with audiences across North America.
